INTRODUCING: The Busy Daddies Do Sci-Fi Podcast

I’m a nerd.  Always have been.  Always will be.  I’m fortunate that in my life I’ve been able to surround myself with people who share similar passions.  This is what has lead me to my most recent venture.  The Busy Daddies Do Sci-Fi podcast isn’t beautiful.  It’s simple and kinda raw and I love it.  If no one else in the world ever listens to it, I’m cool with that.  The mere fact that my life can now facilitate me getting together with Kevin and Adam twice a month and just indulging in the dark recesses of our geeky, analytical passions is amazing.

Kevin started the "we eat an entire pie" while recording tradition. I did not disapprove.

Here’s the deal.  We pick a few books or movies or television shows and, time permitting, we either all read them or we don’t.  Either way we get together and we talk about it.  We talk about the things in our active lives, the very fact that we are busy daddies, that kept us from accomplishing those goals.  Sometimes something magical happens and we’ve all actually read the book, or seen the movie.  It is what it is.  And when it IS, it’s fucking beautiful.  It’s dissection of sci-fi concepts like “hard sci-fi” or “cyberpunk”.  It’s discussions about what it will be like to try and hand these momentos from our lives down to our children.  It’s William Gibson, Vernor Vinge, Douglas Adams on one side.  George Lucas, Joss Whedon, Alex Garland, John Carpenter, George Miller on the other.  It’s what makes movies like Buckaroo Bonzai worth watching again and again.  It’s discovering new gems that went under your radar.
